Speeches

The speeches are coming up and we're getting prepared!
They are going to be on thursday 6th September I think and I'm really nervous. My speech is about people travelling, seeing the world, and learning about different cultures. They should be doing it more often. I just hope it's going to be good enough for the judges!
Anyway I'd better go now so I'll speak to you all later.

BYE!!!

3-way Conference Goals

When we had the 3-way Conferences, we had to set ourselves some goals. My goals are to attain level 4 in Basic Facts Recall and to attain level 4 in Reading Comprehention.
To attain level 4 in Basic Facts Recall, I am going to practice my times tables etc etc .
And to attain level 4 in Reading Comprehention, I am going to read as many books as I can.
I know this is a very short post, but there's nothing else really to talk about, so I will speak to you soon!

Thursday

We have started our 3-way conferences and I had mine on Thursday last week. A 3-way conference is when your parent/s and yourself go into class and you have your clearfile with maybe some work samples in it and you talk to who-ever goes in with you about your work and how you're doing in school.
My 3-way conference went very well but we had a couple of interruptions.
Any way I'd better get going now so I'll speak to you guys later! Bye! :):):)

Tuesday

Hello Again!
In class we've been doing persuasive letter writing. Today we did a plan of a letter that we will be sending off to who ever it's to. For example, mine is to TVNZ because I think they're showing childrens films too late at night. When Shrek was on once, they showed it at about 8:30pm, at least that's what I got told. I got to watch a movie last night that was on at 7:30 and I was lucky to be able to watch all of it.
Also in class we have been preparing alot for our 3-way conferences. It is where your parents and you go into class after school and talk to the teacher about your school work. The child will mostly be talking (I'm not sure why) and we will have our clearfile with all the different subjects we learn about and we may have some photocopied school work under the subject.
Anyway I've been talking alot now so I will go and speak to you soon!
Bye Bye! :):):)

Wednesday

Hello it's me again!
Today we've already done 3 tests I think. We had to write a formal letter to Wellington City Council about opening up the Thorndon Summer Pool (that was an assesment) I actually think that i did quite well...at least I hope I did, we had to do a spelling test and now we've just done a maths test!
Today after lunch the Senior School are going to have a 'science afternoon'. We all get split up into 3 groups and each classroom have different science experiments I think. I know that Lydia, Rebekah and I are all going to be in room 6.
Each week we will change classrooms but we'll still be in our origional groups e.g. I'm in room 6 now, but next week I might be in room 7.
Well I think that's about it for now so I'll speak to you later :-)
Bye Bye!

Hello!

Hello again!
Only 8 more days to go until Stage Challenge. I think I've been talking about Stage Challenge a bit too much so I'm going to try and stop starting from now.
Today (Wednesday 13th June) we've put on sort of a Market Day thing. All the seniors bring in things to sell like baked goods or things they dont want any more and we are going to sell them.
Also, since I'm in the Sport Squad, today me and 2 other people will be selling the Basketball tickets-Saints vs Nelson Giants-outside New World Thorndon, so please if you come by can you buy some? $10 for adults and $5 for children.Adults start at the age of 16 and under 5's are free.If you dont get the tickets outside New World, you might be able to purchase them at Thorndon Primary School.

11 days to go!

Hello again.
It's only 11 days to go before Stage Challenge and we have all been practicing so hard.
I'm really excited and I cant wait to perform. I dont know about the others but I think we're going to waste the other schools. But I do agree, the end of our Stage Challenge is really cheesy but that wont let ME down.
Sorry but I've got to go now.
I'll speake to you all very soon!

I'm back!

I'm back guys!
We're getting so close to the Stage Challenge performance and we have been practicing so much that I think we might have a chance to actually come a really good place!
So keep working hard you guys and backstage people I haven't seen what you've done yet but I know it's going to make Stage Challenge brilliant!
Bye!
Lilly.

I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone perform in the stage challenge. Good luck to all of you. From what I've heard you've all been putting in a lot of hard work. Those of you dealing with the lighting, sets, costumes, and other things associated with the challenge are just as important. Without all of you, your show wouldn't exist.
from Lilly's mum
Hey guys!
I spoke to you last time about the Stage Challenge and the Inquiry Projects, so this time I'll talk to you about something else.
I am really liking this idea about blogs. At first I thought it would be kind of boring, but now I really enjoy doing it!!
We're going to be having a Soccer Tournament so we've all been put into Soccer groups (I cant remember who I'm with) but I'm sure it'll be fun!!
I've got to go now but I'll speak to you soon.
Buy guys!

Hi

Hey!!!

My name’s Lilly and I’m in Room 5 at Thorndon School.
This year so far has been really great, especially practicing for Stage Challenge. I can’t wait to perform!
We’ve been practicing pretty much every day and it’s been so fun.

Also, all of us have started to do our own inquiry projects. Mine is about Horse Riding and my question is: What horse breeds and horse riding guides are best for telling Junior Horse Riders about?
I’ve done all my research and copied them out into my own words (into notes) in my school book.

Any way I’ve got to go.
Bye!
